Welcome! I’m Dr. Michael Miello and I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist. My goal is to provide my clients with the most effective and compassionate psychotherapy possible.
Painful emotions, unwanted, unhelpful thoughts, and stagnation in our goals—these can seem to take over our lives. At the same time we have a strong desire to be the best person we can be and to find purpose in our everyday lives. This tug-of-war leads to exhaustion—a life that feels like we're carrying too many heavy burdens to move freely and live well.
In my treatment I use the techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other evidence-based approaches. I use these techniques because, simply put, they work. But that doesn’t mean one-size-fits all. Together we will carefully explore your unique situation. We will discover what is most important to you, and only then form an individualized plan. Your treatment will match your values and make the most of your strengths. Therapy is not always easy, but it is often very rewarding. The journey itself will be fulfilling. Sometimes it’s even a lot of fun!
I offer treatment for:
- Anxiety and panic
- Excessive guilt and worry
- Depression and loss of motivation
- Attention-related difficulties
- Relationship difficulties
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Motivational enhancement
- Social skills training
- Living with chronic health conditions
- Adaptation to college
- Coping with divorce
- Health anxiety
